What is an Internship?

Answer:
An internship is a way to gain experience in
a particular field of study or work.  In some fields, an internship is required before you an apply for a job or a graduate program.  An internship can also give you an idea of if a particular career might be a good fit for you, without committing entirely to that career.

Some internships are paid, and some are volunteer, but most internships are done for the experience more than for the money.

In an internship, you might perform entry-level or support tasks, or be assigned to “shadow” or help an employee, and in this way, learn about the responsibilities involved in your chosen field.
