What is a Promotion?

Answer:
A job promotion is an increase in job title or rank,
which usually comes with an increase in responsibility, pay, and/or benefits. Promotions tend to be eagerly sought after, and many people include promotions in their career goals.

Promotions usually come when an employee has shown excellent work, talent, or promise, and management thinks that this employee would perform well in a job with higher responsibilities. Often, promotions include supervisory roles, like that of manager. While most people welcome promotions and the positive changes that they bring, in some situations, promotions may isolate someone from their former peers, or bring along unwanted responsibilities.
