What is a Performance Review?

Answer:
A performance review is a way of rating the
work or performance of an employee. Much like grades in a school setting, a performance review gives an employee feedback about whether or not her performance is up to expectations.

Usually given at regular intervals, performance reviews are conducted by an employee's manager or supervisor. Many performance reviews have a self-assessment portion, in order for the employee to reflect upon her own contributions to a company or organization. Then the employee meets with her supervisor, who provides feedback about her performance, strengths, and areas which need improvement. In many companies, raises and promotions are dependent on performance reviews.
