What is a Demotion? |
|
Answer:
A demotion is the opposite of a promotion. It In some fields, demotions are used as disciplinary tools, and in others, a demotion will be given to an employee who is not performing up to expectations. This usually occurs when an employee does not yet merit termination, but is not performing his job in a capable manner. Demotions are usually very awkward, as the other employees will be aware of the demoted worker's new, lower rank. Occasionally an employee is demoted through no fault of her own, as in a situation where a company is restructuring, however, most of the time a demotion is a direct reflection on the employee's job performance.
