What Information Can You Provide on Minnesota Unemployment Benefits?

Answer:
Minnesotans who become unemployed should apply
for unemployment benefits immediately upon losing their jobs or having their work hours drastically cut. There is a one week waiting period before benefits can be paid to those who are eligible to receive them.

To be eligible for Minnesota unemployment benefits, an individual must be actively seeking employment and be willing, able, and available to accept suitable employment if such is offered.

To maintain eligibility for benefits, unemployed individuals must be wiling to accept any shift and pay rate that is customary for their occupation, and must have access to the transportation and childcare necessary to become gainfully employed.

Individuals who are incarcerated or who are out of state for any reason other than seeking employment may not receive Minnesota unemployment benefits. High school students are not eligible for unemployment benefits in Minnesota, regardless of whether or not they are on a school break.
