What does an HVAC Technician do?

Answer:
An HVAC technician specializes in installing
and repairing Heating, Ventilation, and Cooling systems which rely on a shared set of pipes and ductwork. These systems are often used to control temperatures in large buildings and facilities in which a regulated temperature is vital, such as sever farms and hospitals.

Most technicians attend a specialized training program in which they learn about heating, cooling, and air circulation, with the intent of becoming certified as technicians. These programs also include education in basic safety, managing fuel systems, and dealing with refrigerants. Many programs also offer training in environmental sustainability and recycling so that HVAC technicians can offer green services to clients who request them.

After 10 years or more of experience, an HVAC technician will make around $20/hour on average, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In tight markets and certain regions of the United States, this salary may be significantly higher.
