What Does a Writer Do?

Answer:
A writer writes, although what he or she writes
can be extremely varied. Some writers are book authors – they may write novels, non-fiction books, textbooks, or poetry. Other writers write for television or movies, writing scripts, jokes, monologues, etc.

A journalist is a writer who writes about news items, either in newspapers, magazines, or online sources. Columnists, copywriters, writers of dictionaries, bloggers, and playwrights are just a few more types of writers, showing how varied the field is.

Writers work in a variety of settings. Many writers work from home, either telecommuting, or writing manuscripts to submit at a later date. Some copywriters and journalists work from offices. A writer may have a supervisor close at hand or may work entirely on his or her own. A writer might make a steady income, or may repeatedly submit work in hopes of being published and paid.
