They may also treat injuries which require sutures or casting. In many states, a physician’s assistant is able to prescribe medication. A physician’s assistant may be responsible for charting appropriate progress notes in a patients medical chart.

Physician assistants must complete an accredited educational program and pass a national exam in order to receive a license to practice in any state. They must also continue their education throughout their career in order to keep up with advances in the field of medicine.
