in the airways between cities. However, pilots generally have a home city and home airport that they work out of. Obviously, pilots must live near a city that has an airport. When looking for a good place to work, pilots should make sure there is a fairly large airport nearby.

The number one airport in the United States for pilot careers is New York, New York. In second place for pilot careers is Atlanta, Georgia, with Chicago, Illinois coming in very closely behind, in third place for pilot careers. Houston, Texas is in fourth place for cities which pilots should consider when relocating, with a tie for fifth place: San Francisco, California and Dallas, Texas. Los Angeles comes in closely after these two cities.
