What are the Job Duties of a Nurse Practitioner?

Answer:
The job duties and level of care that a nurse practitioner
is responsible for depends on the individual state or jurisdiction. Most nurse practitioners diagnose and treat various medical conditions and diseases.  A nurse practitioner needs more advanced education than a registered nurse, as well as more job-specific training.  Nurse practitioners generally focus on individualized care.

Nurse practitioners can act as primary health care providers and prescribe medications, which registered nurses cannot do.  Some nurse practitioners even operate independent medical practices.  More commonly, nurse practitioners work in medical groups, HMOs, clinics or other medical facilities in conjunction with physicians.  Just like doctors, nurse practitioners might specialize in a specific field such as gynecology, pediatrics, or dermatology, just to name a few.
