What are the Job Duties of a Loan Counselor?

Answer:
A loan counselor works with clients who are either having a hard time paying back or qualifying for a loan
Loan counselors have a responsibility to the financial institution that they work for but also to help their clients manage their loans and loan payments.

When working with people who are trying to obtain a loan but do not meet the qualifications or have a bad credit history, the loan counselor will evaluate their eligibility for different types of loans.  This might include factors such as income, late payments, credit history, and assets.  The loan counselor tries to find the best loans available for the individual clients.

Loan counselors also work with clients who have loans and are having trouble keeping current on the payments.  The loan counselor can help the clients find a payment schedule that works, so that they do not have to default on the loan.  Sometimes, loans might be refinanced or a grace period implemented if the client has experienced a job loss or a medical crisis.
