What are the Job Duties of a Dentist?

Answer:
A dentist cares for his or her patients' oral health
This includes educating patients on how to maintain good oral hygiene and reduce the risk of cavities and other dental problems.  Dentist usually do not clean patients' teeth themselves but supervise dental hygienists who perform the cleaning and sometimes the education of patients.

Dentists deal with problems that may be affecting patients' oral health, such as cavities.  They fill cavities, perform root canals, cap teeth, and check x-rays and general oral health to see if there are any problems that the patient may not have noticed yet.  Dentists can also provide preventative care, such as sealants, which can postpone or prevent cavities.
