What are some well-paying tech jobs?

Answer:
Computer programmers and technicians have extremely
valuable knowledge and skills that are needed in almost every profession nowadays.  However, there is a wide range of salaries in tech jobs.  Salaries not only range from field to field for computer programmers but also from state to state.  Those working in the tech field often have a skill set that can carry them from one job to another if they choose to change fields or positions, making them very employable.

Tech jobs in the research fields pay the most, on average, with earnings averaging around $100,000 per year, depending upon the cost of living of the area.  The next best-paying tech jobs in the United States are those of system software engineers.  Closely behind them are the applications software engineers.  Interestingly, the mining industry in the US pays its programmers very well.  The caveat is that there are very few tech jobs in the mining industry – under 900 in total.

Maybe not surprisingly, the most poorly-paid tech jobs in the United States are government jobs.  Local, state, and federal governments are not generous employers, on average, with the annual wage for programmers in government jobs at around $60,000.  However, many programmers working for the government find that they have generous benefits and many government holidays.
