How can I Impress an Interviewer?

Answer:
Job interviews can be cause for both celebration and terror.
On one hand, landing an interview means that you have already passed some of the hurdles to getting the position!  On the other hand, your chance at being hired can be determined in large part by how you present yourself during a job interview.  Since a job interview can have such a big impact on your future, it is important to come in ready to impress.

First impressions are important in a job interview.  Always show up early for a job interview, clean, well groomed, and dressed appropriately.  Generally, makeup should be natural looking, fingernails clean and not too long or too bright, and hair should be neat and clean.  Appropriate dress depends on the workplace.  People interviewing for jobs in office environments should wear suits, while those applying for jobs in other settings should wear clothing that is appropriate for that environment.

When the interview begins, make sure that you listen carefully to the interviewer's questions.  Answer the questions thoroughly but don't get sidetracked or talk too fast.  Showing confidence without appearing cocky is important in job interviews.  Think carefully before you answer questions and don't be afraid to ask the interviewer for clarification.

Usually, an interviewer will give the interviewee a chance to ask questions at the end of an interview.  This can be a good chance to show that you have done your research!  Asking questions that prove that you are knowledgeable about the company shows interviewers that you are serious.

After an interview, it is a good idea to send thank you notes to anyone who was in on the interview.  A professional follow-up thank you note shows that you are serious and keeps your name in the interviewer's mind.E
