Which Connecticut colleges offer an anesthesiologist residency program?

Answer:
Yale University in New Haven and the
University of Connecticut in Farmington are the colleges offering anesthesiologist residency programs.

In order to become an anesthesiologist, you must begin by graduating high school.  While there, take as many advanced biology and chemistry classes as you can, and don’t forget math, psychology and computers.  The next step is premed in an accredited university or college.  After passing the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), students can apply to medical school, which includes classes on anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, psychology, microbiology and various general medicine courses.  Those will fill your first two years in medical school.  From there, you’ll have two years of clinical training.

There are fifteen teaching hospitals in Connecticut, including the University of Connecticut health center in Farmington and the Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven.

You’re not done yet!  After graduating from medical school, those wishing to be anesthesiologists move on to a residency in anesthesiology.  This time (usually four years) prepares the students to obtain their certification from either the ASA (American Society of Anesthesiologists) or the ABA (American Board of Anesthesiology).  Some students wishing to specialize further will add another year of fellowship study.  Healthcare is the number-one hiring field across the United States right now.
