What colleges and universities offer Physician’s Assistant programs in Arizona?

Answer:
The largest school offering a PA program degree in
Arizona is the Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, Arizona.  Another school offering the program is Midwestern University in Glendale.

In order to become a PA, you typically need two years of specialized schooling.  Most people who pursue this career already have a Bachelor’s Degree.  The typical PA program has some prerequisites, including at least two years of college, classes in biology and chemistry, and sometimes previous experience.

The program itself will include biochemistry, pathology, human anatomy, physiology, microbiology, clinical pharmacology, clinical medicine, geriatric and home healthcare, disease prevention, and medical ethics.  Students also must take on clinical training with a supervisor, usually in these areas:  primary care medicine, inpatient medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, geriatrics, emergency medicine, psychiatry, and pediatrics.  In Arizona, there are a number of hospitals and clinics which work with the schools, including the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Maricopa Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital – all in Phoenix; and University Medical Center in Tuscon.  Healthcare is the number-one-hiring field across the country right now.
