What personal skills or qualities are needed to become a Pathologist?

Answer:
A Pathologist is a Doctor who specializes in
the study of diseases and disease processes, and their effect on organs, cells, tissue, bones, and other anatomical components and systems.

Pathologists look at the various (usually diseased) body components under microscopes and other instrumentation, toward understanding just how certain diseases effect the body and the body processes.

Some Pathologists might work for the Criminal Justice
system, performing forensic research and investigations associated with crimes.  Other Pathologists might work for the Medical industry, performing research and study of diseases for hospitals, clinics, and the like.  Still other Pathologists might work for the Educational system, performing research or teaching others.

Pathologists are educated in typical Medical School topics of anatomy, physiology, physics, chemistry, and the like.  In addition, Pathologists need to study Pathology-specific topics such as those related to how body components react to diseases and injuries.  Some examples are neoplasia (i.e. tumors), wound and injury healing processes, necrosis (unnatural death of cells and tissue), and other similar topics.

Pathologists engaged in working directly with patients must be personable, of course; and Pathologists who operate as independent contractors must learn the basics of operating a business.
