What personal skills or qualities are needed to become a Marine Biologist?

Answer:
A Marine Biologist is one who is engaged in
studying, researching, and otherwise working with salt-water life-forms; their behaviors and other facets of their existence.

Marine Biologists often work in research and consulting, for Universities or other institutions and entities.  Marine Biologists collect and evaluate data about how ocean organisms develop and live; and how they interact with other marine organisms; and how they adapt or evolve; and a host of other areas of interest with regard to marine life.

Marine Biologists are generally graduate students who have specialized in marine life studies.  Of course, Marine Biologists need to be schooled in Biology, Marine Life, Marine Environment, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, and other similar subject areas.

Marine Biologists frequently work on ocean research vessels, and might be involved in undersea diving, to carry out their research.  Thus, they need to be physically fit, and trained and skilled in safe diving practices.

Marine Biologists also need to be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of focusing for long periods of time
, since their work might involve complex calculations and formulas,
intense visual inspections, dissections, and other similarly demanding tasks.
