Job competency refers to the series of skills, behaviors, and talents which are required in order to be competent in a work position. Some common job competencies are organizational skills, planning skills, communication skills, an ability to take initiative, flexibility, decision making skills, teamwork, time management, leadership, and motivation. Obviously, people in different work positions require a different blend of job competencies in order to be successful in his or her job.
