Drafting is defined as the Profession
which involves the process of preparation of Technical Drawings or Plans which are in turn used in the manufacturing of different products like Toys, Office Buildings, Housing, Industrial Machineries, Space Crafts, Oil and Gas Pipelines and many more.


The person who is an expert in the field of Drafting is known as Drafter or CADD Operators. Drafting is being used in a wide range of applications & need complex typical drawings and therefore most of the Drafters employ CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting) System to prepare these technical drawings. CADD System can be used to draw two or three dimensional images and is enough efficient to handle large & complex projects also. However Drafting can also be done using pen, pencil, colors, tracing papers, eraser, etc. 


Drafting usually involves the drawing of objects presenting with its top view, main view, side view, and different other features, etc. in order to tell or guide a mechanist what he/she is going to make or construct in future. The desired skills for a good Drafter involve highly developed drafting & mechanical drawing skills, mathematical skills, knowledge of drafting standards, science skills, good communication skills as well as computer skills. In U.S. Drafters must be licensed from American Design Drafting Association (ADDA). 


Today Drafting is a career which in high demand and one can opt for this by undergoing the course of study in the any of the Drafting Schools. There are various fields in which Drafting is needed like Aeronautics, Architecture, Civil, Electronics branch, Electrical branch, Mechanical branch, Layout of Pipelines and many more.
Employers generally prefer those candidates who have completed Drafting Training after high school at technical institute or four year college or University.
