What is casual Friday?

Answer:
Casual Fridays are a custom in North American
businesses in which many offices offer one day a week when office workers can wear more casual clothes than traditional business wear.  Casual Friday can also be known as casual day, dress-down Friday, or Business casual day.  This is thought to give the employees a break from suits and ties worn every other day during the week.

Most office workers wear suits, dress shirts, slacks, and dress shoes to work most days, although some offices have a more casual atmosphere.  During casual Fridays, employees may be able to wear jeans, sweatshirts, or sneakers, although some businesses have slightly more formal rules.  Occasionally, companies or organizations have themed dress-down days, such as luaus, when everyone wears Hawaiian shirts.

Some offices, especially those with younger managers and employees, have a more casual atmosphere every day of the week.  This was particularly popular during the Dot Com era in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.  Everyday dress codes vary from company to company.
