Life coaching, also called personal coaching, is a relatively new type of job. Life coaches are part career counselor, part psychotherapist. Many people who are going through significant changes in their lives, find themselves in tricky interpersonal relationships, or have difficult decisions to make hire a life coach. The life coach should be able to help their clients feel like they are moving forward and solving problems in various areas of their lives.
A career coach is similar to a life coach, but with a focus solely on the client’s career aspirations. Career coaches often provide a skills assessment for their client in order to determine which fields are ideal matches. In addition, a career coach can help in a career search or an individual’s desire to advance in his or her field. Performance coaching is becoming popular in many different fields. This can entail bringing consultants in to the workplace to help employees increase productivity, hone their professional skills, or be an effective team player. Alternatively, a performance coach can be someone from within the company.
